Lydia Maldonado

"My work is about the portraits of objects and things. I try to include as many details as I know about the subject to describe what it is, what its made of and what it does."

Lydia Maldonado believes that ceremony is necessary to combine the traditions of our culture. Passing on the values of our beliefs to the next generation. The value of water in the desert needed for washing, cleaning, cooking, and healing. Understanding the conflict of the advance of technology and its promise of faster, quicker everything for the here and right now so that we can be competitive in the world; or to cling to traditions that give us our identity as a people in this world and not lose ourselves in that promise of progress.
