A native Tucsonan and recent graduate of the University of Arizona, David holds two Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees: Art and Visual Culture Education and Two-Dimensional Studio Art. He is the resident artist at Raices Taller 222 Art Gallery and Workshop where he not only creates his art but volunteers much of his time helping the gallery with exhibition openings, printmaking workshops, viewing times, and community outreach.
David is also an art teacher for Trio Upward Bound, a Pima Community College program that works with high school students preparing them for college by engaging them in the arts, math, and sciences. Additionally, he teaches painting/mural art at Challenger Middle School and is part of Sunnyside School District’s 21st Century Community Learning Center.
As a teacher – David loves sharing his knowledge by exposing his students to many different forms of art making while at the same time teaching them how to be resourceful by using found materials. As an artist - David is a passionate printmaker and large-scale painter and is always seeking creative ways to bring elements of his imaginative ideas into his work.
