Ceci Garcia is an artist, Art Educator and Founding Member of Raices Taller 222 Art Gallery & Workshop. Born in Southern Arizona, she grew up in the Tri Community of Mammoth, Oracle and San Manuel. Her families were original settlers of the Aravaipa Canyon and Florence Arizona.
Garcia studied at Cochise College, Central Arizona College, Arizona State University and completed her Education and Fine Arts degrees at Pima Community College and the University of Arizona.
Her work in painting, mixed media and printmaking is reflective and regional in the symbolism of Southern Arizona. It is through her artwork that she reflects the “connections of place and time” that have influenced her life; the hardship, joy, and spirit of the people from the ranching and mining communities where she was raised.
Garcia continually explores the “homage” of reverence by frequently returning to the areas that influenced her and by collecting and incorporating into her work the sanctified soils from Southern Arizona and from other countries and borders.
